Display Names

A display name is the business name shown to users in WhatsApp chats and notifications. It must relate to the business and follow WhatsApp Commerce and Business policies.

When users see the display name

Users may see the phone number instead of the display name until:

• The display name status is approved in Meta Business Suite
• The business has completed Meta Business Verification
• The account has active messaging history and maintains high quality

For coexistence (COEX) numbers, display name review may require Meta Verified first.

Meta principles (summary)

• Must not violate WhatsApp policies
• Accurately represents the business, product, department, or clearly labeled test/demo account
• Matches external branding (website capitalization/spacing)
• Clear relationship to the business on the website
• Requires a working verified website

Before registration you can change the display name freely; after registration, Meta typically requires waiting 30 days between change requests.

Changing a display name

Update the display name in WhatsApp Manager (business profile) or via Bizgate Partner APIs / Bizgate Partner Portal where available. See Business Profiles.
